GIZ : Central Asian Transit Passes Through Turkmenistan Border in the Shortest Time

Turkmenistan is strengthening its status as a reliable transit bridge between Asia and Europe. According to a rapid assessment conducted by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in October-November 2024, the average time for transit goods to cross the border in Turkmenistan is only 50 minutes. This is the shortest показатель in the Central Asian region. For comparison: in Kazakhstan - 2 hours 26 minutes, in Tajikistan - 1 hour 50 minutes, in Kyrgyzstan - 1 hour 28 minutes, and in Uzbekistan - 1 hour 25 minutes. This is reported by the Customs Service of Turkmenistan.

This result has become possible due to the well-coordinated work of customs and other controlling bodies of Turkmenistan through the use of information systems, the introduction of green corridors, as well as the simplification of customs procedures. The State Customs Service of Turkmenistan plays an important role in the modernization and expansion of international transit corridors, harmonizing control in accordance with international standards, the source notes.
