President Berdymukhamedov met Xi Jinping in Astana

June 17, 2025 – On the sidelines of the second "China – Central Asia" summit in the Kazakh capital, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhamedov held a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Astana. This was reported by official Turkmen media.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed the further development of Turkmen-Chinese relations, which are strategic in nature.

The President of Turkmenistan and the President of China exchanged views on the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, as well as on pressing issues of the regional and international agenda of mutual interest.

According to Xinhua, during the talks, the Chinese leader noted Beijing's desire to deepen cooperation with Turkmenistan based on mutual respect and mutual benefit. He emphasized the importance of expanding partnership in the gas sector, developing interaction in non-resource sectors, and improving the structure of bilateral trade.

Xi Jinping underscored China's support for Turkmenistan's accession to the World Trade Organization.
