The first freight train from Jinhua City in China's Zhejiang Province departed for the Turkmenbashi port in Turkmenistan on June 20, 2025. This event marks the official opening of a new section of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor.
According to Xinhua, this route will become an important link in the system for delivering Chinese goods to Central Asian countries and Europe.
The train, consisting of 100 standard containers with clothing, accessories, metal parts, and other products, will pass through the Horgos border crossing on the border with Kazakhstan. It will then proceed through Almaty, Tashkent, and Ashgabat, completing its journey in Turkmenistan. From Turkmenbashi, the goods will be transported across the Caspian Sea to the Azerbaijani port of Baku.
The route aims to relieve the existing direction through the Kazakh port of Aktau and accelerate the delivery of Chinese goods to Central Asia and Central and Eastern Europe.
This is the 26th international railway route launched in Zhejiang Province as part of the China-Europe initiative.
