Russia Seeks to Expand Involvement of Its Carriers With Turkmenistan

Representatives of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation and the Turkmenavtoulaglary Agency under the Agency for Transport and Communications of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan held a working meeting in Ashgabat from June 23 to 25, 2025, with the participation of road freight carriers from both countries.

During the talks, the Russian side expressed interest in expanding the involvement of its freight carriers in bilateral transportation with Turkmenistan. In response, the Turkmen side expressed readiness to use Russian vehicles, provided they are promptly available for loading, according to the International Road Transport Association.

The Turkmen delegation noted a significant increase in cargo volumes during 2024–2025, driven by government measures to boost exports of agricultural products and consumer goods.

Turkmen representatives also shared information on transit conditions within the country, including the procedure for calculating fees applied to foreign transport vehicles.

The Russian side discussed potential cooperation with Turkmen carriers, exporters, and cargo owners. Participants exchanged contacts and expressed willingness to continue the dialogue.

Both parties emphasized the importance of establishing direct business links and agreed to deepen cooperation in priority areas.
