On June 16, 2025, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, met with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, in Baku, according to the press service of the TDH.
During the talks, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said his visit aimed to strengthen interstate ties, implement existing agreements and develop new areas of cooperation. National Leader of the Turkmen People described the relationship between the two countries as one of brotherhood, good neighborliness and partnership.
Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan noted that bilateral cooperation is built on a strong historical foundation and covers a wide range of areas, from politics and the economy to humanitarian issues, including transport and energy. The sides paid special attention to aligning their positions in the international arena, including within organizations such as the United Nations and the Economic Cooperation Organization.
Azerbaijani President said Berdimuhamedov’s visit would give new momentum to the development of strategic partnership between the two countries. Aliyev also noted the steady progress of cooperation in the political, economic, energy, transport and humanitarian spheres.
At the end of the meeting, President Aliyev conveyed warm greetings to the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
