On September 11, 2024, a meeting was held between the National Leader of Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Acting Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Afghanistan Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund.Having thanked the National Leader of the Turkmen people for the hospitality, the Acting Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Afghanistan emphasized the importance of the ongoing historical events in further strengthening cooperation between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan, based on the traditions of good neighborliness.It was noted that Turkmenistan, being the closest neighbor of Afghanistan, advocates the integration of international efforts to ensure political and economic stability in the friendly country and provides it with ongoing assistance. In this regard, sincere gratitude was expressed to the National Leader of Turkmen people, as well as to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov for the noble activities in this direction.The guest emphasized that the centuries-old relations between the Afghan and Turkmen peoples are now reaching a qualitatively new level. In this regard, the opening of a new railway bridge at the Serhetabat-Turgundi railway crossing on the Turkmen-Afghan border, the start of construction of the Serhetabat-Herat gas pipeline and the Serhetabat-Herat fiber-optic communication line, called "Arkadagyň ak ýoly", the construction of a warehouse complex in the dry port of the Turghundi railway station, the start of construction of the Turghundi-Sanabar railway, as well as the commissioning of the «Nur-el-Jahad» power plant, located in the Herat province of Afghanistan, are of historical significance.The National Leader of Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanked for the kind words and noted that he was glad to see the acting head of the Government of Afghanistan in Turkmenistan.Relations between the two friendly countries are built on the principles of mutual respect, good neighborliness and brotherhood.
