Turkmenistan Aims to Boost Textile Exports to Japan

A Turkmen delegation led by Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan, Nazar Agahanov, visited Japan from August 30 to September 3, 2025, to discuss expanding the presence of Turkmen textile products in the Japanese market, according to Turkmenistan’s official media.

During the working visit, the delegation held a series of bilateral meetings with Japanese companies and organizations involved in trade and the textile industry.

In Tokyo, the Turkmen delegation held talks with the Chairman of the Turkmen-Japanese Committee for Economic Cooperation, Member of the Board of Directors and Executive Vice President of ITOCHU Corporation, as well as with Hiroyuki Tsubai, President of a machinery and equipment manufacturing company, and Norihiko Ishiguro, President of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).

In Osaka, during the World Expo 2025, the delegation met with Deputy Secretary General of the Japan Association for EXPO 2025 Manatsu Ichinoki, the Commissioner of the Saudi Arabian National Pavilion, the Director of the Qatari National Pavilion, and representatives of Masui Co. Ltd.

The meetings focused on exploring opportunities for Japanese companies to operate in Turkmenistan and on enhancing export-import relations between the two countries.

Diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Japan were established on April 22, 1992. Economic cooperation spans energy, gas chemistry, agriculture, infrastructure projects, and high technology.
