Employees of the Administration of State Supervision of Navigation in Turkmenistan under the «Turkmendenizderyayollary» agency, expanded their knowledge during trainings on the topic “Maritime International Conventions” conducted by the international certification and classification society Det Norske Veritas (DNV) from September 18 to 27, 2023 with the support of the European Maritime Security Agency. The training was held online.

Development of cooperation between Astrakhan and Turkmenistan

The meeting of the Governor of the Astrakhan region of Russia, Igor Babushkin, with the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, brought new impetus to the development of relations between the two regions. The desire to open a regular shipping line between Astrakhan and Turkmenistan is a key initiative aimed at expanding economic and trade relations, as well as the possibility of increasing the volume of maritime cargo transportation and the export of agricultural products from Astrakhan to Turkmenistan.

On September 18, 2023, the General Director of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers, Mammethan Chakiev, visited the «Balkan» shipbuilding and repairing yard in Turkmenbashi. During the visit, the General Director got acquainted with the activities of the «Balkan» ship yard. Dynamics of growth in transportation amounts for 8 months of 2023

The total amount of cargo transportation in January-August 2023 by the vessels of the Marine Merchant Fleet increased by 128,6% compared to the same period in 2022 and amounted to 1.509 million tons. Generally, the plan for cargo transportation for January-August 2023 completed by 130,1%.

Turkmenbashi International Sea Port continues actively receive wheat imports

Turkmenbashi International Sea Port continues actively receive wheat imports, playing a key role in providing the country’s agricultural needs. Cargo arriving from Astrakhan is efficiently distributed between two terminals - the general cargo terminal and the bulk cargo terminal. The general cargo terminal provides efficient unloading and loading services, allowing cargo to move quickly and safely on land. At the bulk cargo terminal, grain crops undergo separation in special grain silos before shipment. The international seaport of Turkmenbashi has 14 modern grain silos with a total capacity of 35,000 m3, which provide optimal storage conditions and humidity control before shipment.
