About the Maritime Administration

The Administration of State Supervision of Navigation in Turkmenistan under the Agency "Turkmendenizderyayollary" (hereinafter - the Administration), ensures the safety and use of navigation of marine vessels in inland waters and water basins of Turkmenistan, as well as monitors the safe use of self-propelled and not self-propelled floating structures, hydraulic engineering structures, floating pumping stations, floating bridges, vessel berths and other floating structures, as well as provides technical supervision in the construction, repair and use of ships and offshore mobile unit in the Turkmen region of the Caspian Sea.

On August 26, 1993, Turkmenistan became a member of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and has ratified International Conventions related to merchant shipping prepared by the IMO.

The Administration cooperates with International Maritime Organizations. In recent years, training seminars have been organized with the participation of representatives of the International Maritime Organization.   

     At present, as a result of the prudent policy of deeply esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, great attention is being paid to the sphere of maritime and river transport. Along with the development of the Turkmenbashi International Sea Port and the Turkmen maritime merchant fleet, the President pays great attention to implement international agreements on commercial shipping and modernize the national legal framework established in this area.
