According to official Turkmen media, over 2000 citizens of Turkmenistan took advantage of the opportunity to visit Malaysia visa-free for up to 90 days in 2024.
This became possible, in part, thanks to the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Tourism signed last year between the governments of Turkmenistan and Malaysia.
The agreement, consisting of 11 points and designed for 5 years, aims to strengthen Turkmen-Malaysian cooperation in the field of tourism. Its implementation is monitored by the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia.
Direct air communication between the capitals of the two countries and the possibility of a visa-free stay contribute to an increase in the number of Turkmen tourists visiting Malaysia.
In addition, about 15 agreements were concluded between Turkmen and Malaysian tourism companies, which also contributes to the development of tourism. Turkmen citizens can organize their trips through more than 100 operating Turkmen tourism companies, offering group, individual, and family tours.
