THE MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION OF TURKMENISTAN PARTICIPATED IN AN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE IN TOKYO

Representatives of the Ministry of Environment Protection of Turkmenistan took part in the international conference on the assessment of greenhouse gas emissions using the GOSAT satellite, which took place on February 3-4, 2025 in Tokyo, Japan. This is reported by the official website of the ministry.

Within the framework of the conference, representatives of the countries of Central Asia, Japan, the Republic of Azerbaijan and Mongolia discussed the possibilities of using data obtained from the satellite to conduct an inventory of greenhouse gas emissions.

The Deputy Head of the Department for the Coordination of International Environmental Cooperation and Projects of the Ministry of Environment Protection of Turkmenistan, Mergen Yusupov, made a presentation on the key directions of the state environmental policy of Turkmenistan, as well as on the measures implemented in accordance with the National Strategy of Turkmenistan on Climate Change. In his speech, he noted the measures taken by the country in the field of climate change, and the international initiatives put forward by the esteemed President of Turkmenistan.

At the conference, representatives of Turkmenistan exchanged experience with participants from other countries and discussed the possibilities of bilateral cooperation. The importance of the methods used for conducting an inventory of greenhouse gas emissions and the use of digital technologies in this area was also emphasized.

The participation of the delegation of Turkmenistan in the conference was another proof of the country's commitment to expanding international environmental cooperation.
