On February 18, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with the head of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, Rustam Minnikhanov, who arrived in our country on a working visit.
Expressing his deep gratitude for the warm welcome and the opportunity to discuss the current issues of traditional cooperation in a personal conversation, the guest conveyed warm words of welcome from the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, who addressed the top leadership and the people of Turkmenistan with sincere wishes for happiness, well-being and prosperity.
After warmly welcoming the distinguished guest to the Turkmen land and thanking him for his kind words, the head of state Serdar Berdimuhamedov conveyed his best wishes to the President of the Russian Federation and the brotherly people of the friendly country.
As part of the discussion, the parties exchanged opinions on the current state and priorities for the further development of the bilateral partnership, taking into account their mutual interest.
As President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized, Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the development of relations with the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation. Regular meetings and contacts at the highest level are one of the main factors of systematic and effective bilateral interaction.
The Head of State thanked the President of the Republic of Tatarstan for his active participation in the International Forum dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen poet and philosopher Makhtumkuli Fragi, held last October.
The interlocutors noted with satisfaction that for centuries our peoples have maintained friendly relations based on common culture, common religion, similarity of languages, traditions, as well as mutual respect and equality.
Rustam Minnikhanov particularly emphasized the inherent desire of the Turkmen people to preserve national traditions and unique culture, thanking him once again for the opportunity to visit our country again.
No less important aspect of Turkmen-Tatar relations, according to the general opinion, is cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, including in the field of education, culture and art.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed the intention of the Turkmen side to continue active activities aimed at strengthening multi-faceted cooperation with brotherly Tatarstan within the framework of the strategic partnership with the Russian Federation.
The Head of State also reminded that on the initiative of Turkmenistan, 2025 was declared "International Year of Peace and Trust", which was established by the corresponding Resolution of the UN General Assembly. In this regard, on December 12 of this year, a representative forum will be held in the capital of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, to mark the 30th anniversary of the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan. Inviting the head of the Republic of Tatarstan to take part in it, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed deep confidence that this will be a significant contribution to the successful implementation of this major international event.
At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the head of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, Rustam Minnikhanov, exchanged mutual wishes for good health and further success in their work, and peace, well-being and prosperity to the fraternal peoples of Turkmenistan and Tatarstan.
