The eighth session of the seventh convocation of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan was held on April 12, 2025. Several normative legal acts, developed in accordance with the priority directions of the state policy of the esteemed President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and on the modernization of the legislative and legal framework of the country, were considered at the session. The drafts of the Laws of Turkmenistan "On the Court" (new edition) and "On Accession to the 1988 Protocol to the International Convention on Load Lines, 1966" were discussed and unanimously adopted at the session.

During the meeting, information from the Authorized Representative for Human Rights in Turkmenistan – the Ombudsman – was heard.

Also, at the session, the drafts of and the Laws of Turkmenistan "On Amendments to the Law of Turkmenistan 'On the Establishment of the юбилейная медали Туркменистана «Magtymguly Pyragynyň 300 ýyllygyna»'", "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of Turkmenistan", "On Amendments and Additions to the Law of Turkmenistan 'On Administrative Procedures'", "On Amendments and Additions to the Law of Turkmenistan 'On Road Transport'", "On Amendments and Additions to the Law of Turkmenistan 'On Migration'" were discussed and adopted.

The documents adopted at the session will be of great importance in modernizing the legislative framework of the judicial system, legally strengthening international initiatives of the state, improving the norms on disputes arising from economic and administrative legal relations, protecting the rights and legitimate interests of citizens, including children and family values, regulating the activities of relevant bodies operating in the field of road transport, and ensuring the organization of migration policy in accordance with the requirements of the time. They will also supplement the legislative framework of the state and contribute to the implementation of the tasks set for the implementation of large-scale socio-economic and democratic transformations.

At the meeting, the deputies expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Hero-Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar for the support provided to the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the broad opportunities created in the field of improving the national legislation of the country.
