Trade Turnover Between China and Central Asia Reaches Record High in January–May 2025

From January to May 2025, the volume of trade between China and the five Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan) increased by 10.4% compared to the same period last year, reaching 286.42 billion yuan (approximately $39.91 billion). This was reported by the General Administration of Customs of China.

During the reporting period, China's exports to Central Asian countries amounted to 188.18 billion yuan, a 5.6% increase year-on-year. Imports of goods from Central Asia to China grew by 21%, reaching 98.24 billion yuan.

Imports of agricultural products from Central Asia saw a significant increase of 26.9%, totaling 4.36 billion yuan.

Trade conducted by road transport in the first five months of this year reached 143.65 billion yuan, surpassing the figures for the same period in 2024 by 10.9%.
