The United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, will visit Turkmenistan to participate in the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3), which will be held from August 5 to 8 in the Avaza National Tourist Zone, according to a statement released by the UN press office on Friday.
During the conference, the Secretary-General will highlight the importance of supporting countries in this category as they strive to integrate into global markets. Particular emphasis will be placed on overcoming geographical barriers and adopting advanced technologies, especially artificial intelligence.
Throughout his visit, the Secretary-General is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Turkmenistan’s leadership, as well as with leaders and officials from other participating countries.
The conference in Avaza will provide a platform for dialogue among world leaders and development partners. Attendees will discuss the challenges and opportunities faced by landlocked developing countries. The event will also allow Turkmenistan to demonstrate its role as an important player in regional integration and international cooperation.
The United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries takes place once every ten years.
