Women Leaders’ Meeting Held in Awaza

On August 7, in the National Tourist Zone “Awaza,” within the framework of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs), a Women Leaders’ Meeting was held. The forum aimed to promote gender equality, expand women’s rights and opportunities, and share best practices. The event brought together heads of parliaments of LLDCs, representatives of international organizations, and public associations.

UN Under-Secretary-General Rabab Fatima stated that investments in empowering women would bring significant economic and social benefits. Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Dunyagozel Gulmanova emphasized that the country’s policy is aimed at strengthening the role of women in society and protecting their rights.

Vice President for Medical Affairs of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need, Oguljahan Atabaeva, reported that in 4 years the foundation has financed over 500 surgeries for children, introduced advanced medical practices, and created conditions for women to realize their creative potential.

At the end of the meeting, participants adopted a final document aimed at ensuring the full participation of women in implementing the Awaza Programme of Action and achieving gender equality in all spheres.
