The National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, has invited Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to pay an official visit to Turkmenistan. The invitation was extended during a phone call between the two leaders, Turkmen state media reported Sunday.
During the conversation, Berdimuhamedov and Aliyev discussed the development of bilateral and regional cooperation, noting the positive dynamics in relations between their countries. Both leaders emphasized the importance of recent high-level visits and agreements.
Aliyev thanked the Turkmen side for its hospitality during the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, which was held in Avaza. He also conveyed warm greetings to President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
The two leaders highlighted the significance of the recent trilateral meeting between Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan, as well as the summit of Central Asian leaders. The idea of Azerbaijan joining the regional consultative format was also discussed.
The call was initiated by the Azerbaijani side.
