On October 8, 2025, the fourth meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Croatian Commission on Economic Cooperation was held in Ashgabat. During the meeting, the work carried out between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Croatia in political, trade and economic, industrial, energy, transport and logistics, agricultural, tourism, educational, cultural, business, and other important areas was discussed, as well as areas for further development of cooperation between the two countries.
In particular, the need to develop trade and economic relations was noted. Despite the positive results achieved to date, it was noted that there are significant opportunities that need to be developed. It was noted that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the comprehensive development of cooperation with the Republic of Croatia as a reliable partner in the European Union.
It was noted that there are great opportunities for exchanging experiences with the Republic of Croatia, creating joint digital platforms and developing e-commerce, which is particularly important for stimulating small and medium-sized businesses and expanding prospects for trade and economic cooperation.

The country is implementing large-scale projects to modernize roads and railways, develop port infrastructure on the Caspian Sea, and create new energy routes. The importance of cooperation in maritime transport was particularly noted. A striking example of this is the construction of two RO-PAX vessels for transporting cars and passengers. On this significant date in April 2014, at the invitation of the Turkmen side, the President of the Republic of Croatia paid a state visit to Turkmenistan. On December 12, 2015, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed in Ashgabat between the State Service of Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan and the Croatian shipbuilding company Uljanik Brodogradiliste d.d., marking the further strengthening of cooperation in this area.
During the meeting, it was noted that all opportunities are open for establishing mutually beneficial cooperation across various economic sectors. The development of trade and economic relations requires the use of modern and reliable tools and methods. It was noted that expanding cooperation in this area will contribute to strengthening mutual trust between the business communities of the two countries and increasing the effectiveness of economic cooperation.
Following the meeting, the Protocol of the Fourth Meeting of the Turkmen-Croatian Intergovernmental Group on Economic Cooperation was signed.
