The 13th meeting of the Turkmen-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was held in Ashgabat, marking a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral ties. The Russian delegation was led by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin. During the visit, he met with the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
The central focus of the program was the Russian delegation's study of the urban development concept for the first ‘smart’ city of Turkmenistan, the city of Arkadag. Russian specialists praised the integrated approach to construction and the scale of implementation of advanced digital technologies in the infrastructure of the city.
The cultural program of the visit was no less intense. The delegation visited the Aba Annayev International Horse Breeding Academy, where Marat Khusnullin emphasized the respect for the traditions of Ahal-Teke horse breeding. The performance of the ‘Galkynysh’ National Equestrian Games Group at the State Equestrian Circus left a lasting impression. The guests also toured several museums and exhibitions, including a fashion show as part of the exhibition ‘Healthcare, Education and Sports in the Epoch of the Revival of a New Era of a Powerful State’.
The commission's work resulted in the signing of a significant package of documents aimed at deepening partnership in key areas. These include an Agreement on a Simplified Customs Corridor, an Action Plan for Cooperation in Education, which provides for the development of academic exchanges and joint research programs, an Agreement on Cooperation in Exchange Activities and several memoranda on cooperation in horse breeding.
The signed documents create a solid foundation for the implementation of new joint projects and confirm the strategic nature of the partnership between Turkmenistan and Russia.
