 
On October 23, 2025, during a Government meeting held via digital format, Deputy Prime Minister M. Chakyyev reported on the ongoing work aimed at training international-level specialists for Turkmenistan’s maritime and river transport sector, the TDH reports.
The report noted that Turkmenistan is carrying out necessary work to ensure a high level of compliance with the requirements of the relevant international conventions of the International Maritime Organization and to improve the professional qualifications of seafarers. In this regard, the Deputy Prime Minister submitted a corresponding proposal for consideration by the Head of State.
After hearing the report, the President noted that effective measures are being taken to improve the operations of the national merchant fleet and to train highly qualified personnel in this field.
The Head of State approved the proposal to hold a regional training seminar in the city of Turkmenbashi jointly with the International Maritime Organization and the International Hydrographic Organization and instructed the Deputy Prime Minister to take the necessary steps to organize it.
