Turkmenistan Discussed Transportation Project Financing with US IDFC

The core focus of negotiations between representatives of the US International Development Finance Corporation (IDFC) and the leadership of Turkmenistan's transport sector was the financing of joint projects and the development of cooperation under new conditions. The meeting took place on June 9, 2026, in Ashgabat.

The delegation led by Caroline Vice, IDFC's Chief Policy Officer, was received at the Ministry of Railway Transport of Turkmenistan. The Head of the State Service of Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan also participated in the meeting via video conference, further expanding the scope of the discussions. Additionally, proposals were put forward by the head of the railway sector and specialists from relevant fields during the talks.

The head of the American delegation, Caroline Vice, highly praised the hospitality shown during her speech. Pointing out Turkmenistan's strategic and advantageous geographical location in the region, she stated that IDFC is highly interested in pursuing sustainable, reliable, and long-term cooperation with the country.

At the conclusion of the highly productive negotiations, the parties confirmed their readiness to work on promising projects aimed at the sustainable development of the transport and logistics system, as well as the creation of regional and international multimodal corridors. Furthermore, the sides agreed to continue preliminary discussions to determine the strategic directions of mutually beneficial relations.
