June 22, 2026. Today, following the conclusion of the high-level Turkmen-Azerbaijani talks in Baku, an official ceremony was held with the participation of the Heads of State and members of the official delegations of the two countries. The event, organized via videoconference in a special hall of the "Zagulba" Palace, was dedicated to the presentation of the "Dostluk" oil tanker as a gift from Azerbaijan to Turkmenistan. This was reported by the "Turkmenistan" newspaper.
During the ceremony, R. Nabiyev, the Minister of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan, provided detailed information regarding the technical specifications of the new vessel. Following the presentation, the Presidents of the two countries officially launched the tanker into operation by pressing a special button, and its deployment into the water was broadcast live via video link. At the conclusion of the video presentation, the President of Azerbaijan ceremonially presented the vessel's certificate to the President of Turkmenistan amidst applause.
According to the Press Service of the President of Azerbaijan, the state-of-the-art "Dostluk" oil tanker was built at the Baku Shipyard. This massive vessel measures 141 meters in length and 16.9 meters in width, with a total carrying capacity of 7,875 tons. The delivery of the new tanker stands as yet another testament to the steadily strengthening friendly and strategic relations between the two neighboring states.
