On 20 October 2026, an online training session was organized within the framework of the project "Promoting Green Ports and Connectivity in the Caspian Sea Region", implemented by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) aimed at strengthening the environmental sustainability and transport-logistic infrastructure of the region. Relevant representatives from the State Service of Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan and the Turkmenbashi International Seaport participated in this international training session themed "Smart Ports, Sustainable Future: How Digitalization Is Driving the Green Transformation of Ports".
During the event, international experts from "HPC Hamburg Port Consulting" delivered a comprehensive presentation based on leading global practices. The training session explained how digital solutions deliver environmental benefits through two complementary approaches in port management: climate change mitigation and adaptation. In this regard, vital methods for minimizing harmful emissions by optimizing vessel waiting times in ports, preventing unnecessary fuel consumption, and managing energy efficiently were demonstrated.
Concurrently, the specialists studied modern systems capable of accurately tracking changing water levels, wind, and temperature, as well as innovative technologies that simulate extreme weather conditions. At the conclusion of the training session, the parties engaged in a mutual Q&A exchange to discuss modern digital solutions for the practical and effective implementation of a "Hyperconnected Smart Port Ecosystem" within the context of the Caspian region, as well as specific avenues for accelerating customs and trade operations.
