According to the China Shipbuilding Industry Association, based on the results of ten months of 2023, China continues to maintain leadership in the global shipbuilding market. China recorded an increase in both production volumes and new orders.
In 10 months of 2023, China completed construction of ships with a total tonnage of 34.56 million deadweight tons, which is 12% more than last year and accounts for 49.7% of the global total.
From January to October, new orders received by Chinese shipbuilders rose 63.3% year-on-year to 61.06 million dwt, accounting for 67% of total new orders globally.
As of the end of September, the industry's current orders reached 133.82 million dwt, up 28.1% from a year earlier. China accounted for 54.4% of the global total.
