Turkmen customs officers exchanged experience on vehicle scanning with UAE

The delegation of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan within the framework of the working visit to Dubai from 6 to 8 January 2025 got acquainted with the innovative system of radioactive scanning of vehicles in the port “Jebel Ali” United Arab Emirates.

According to the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, it allows efficient checking of cargo transport and containers without damaging goods, including foodstuffs. The scanning time of one vehicle is up to 150 units per hour at a speed of 8-15 km/h.

During the visit, the delegation met with the leadership of the UAE Federal Customs Administration, where the Director of the UAE Department of International Customs Relations, Soud Alagroubi, spoke about the activities of the Administration and the experience of implementing the Authorised Economic Operators programme. The parties discussed the prospects for cooperation and the possibility of mutual recognition of such operators, and the Arab side proposed an action plan to further strengthen cooperation.

The Turkmen delegation also visited the Dubai Customs Academy, where they learnt about modern training methods, including the use of virtual reality.

The visit is part of the implementation of the bilateral Agreement on Cooperation in Customs Affairs signed in November 2022 in Abu Dhabi.
