Turkmenistan and VSO Discuss Prospects for Education Cooperation in Ashgabat

Representatives from the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the organization Volunteer Services Overseas (VSO) met in Ashgabat on January 27, 2025, to discuss innovative teaching methods and opportunities for joint projects aimed at modernizing the education system in Turkmenistan.

Deputy Minister Azat Atayev, International Department Head Gulnabat Gurdova, and VSO representatives Purna Shrestha and Joyce Laker participated in the negotiations. The parties discussed initiatives to support teachers, students, and educational institutions, as reported by the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.

VSO representatives proposed sharing their experience in educational reforms and implementing global standards, which should enhance the educational environment in Turkmenistan. Both sides expressed confidence that their collaboration would open new opportunities for students and educators and serve as a significant step in strengthening the education system.

The VSO delegation, currently in Ashgabat for a week-long visit, also plans to visit schools and educational centers to explore further collaboration opportunities. Based in London, VSO operates in more than 20 countries, focusing on supporting volunteers and creating inclusive educational conditions.
