In Almaty, representatives from the railways of Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Turkmenistan held a two-day meeting, focusing on creating favorable through-tariff conditions for transit through Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Iran, the Turkmen Railways Agency reported on Friday.
The parties reviewed cargo transportation results through the Bolashak border station in Kazakhstan and discussed measures to enhance the attractiveness of the North-South transport corridor.
Participants confirmed their intention to increase transportation volumes and continue developing cooperation. At the end of the meeting, they signed a protocol outlining the agreements reached.
The North-South Corridor is a multimodal route spanning 7,200 kilometers. This alternative route connects Europe, the Persian Gulf countries, and the Indian Ocean through the Suez Canal.
