Prospects for the development of cooperation and increasing the efficiency of rail transportation between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan were discussed in Almaty during bilateral negotiations between representatives of JSC "NC "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" and the "Turkmendemiryollary" Agency. This is reported on the official website of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.
The parties came to an agreement on the resumption of the joint international checkpoint at the Bolashak railway station, located on the border of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.
This measure is aimed at increasing the volume of traffic between the two countries, since the resumption of the international point will speed up the process of train exchange and reduce the inspection time required for the transportation of goods.
In 2024, the volume of traffic between the two countries amounted to 1.6 million tons, the source notes.
