Political consultations were held in Astana between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan

On February 3, 2025, political consultations were held in Astana between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan. This is reported by the official press of the MFA.

The Turkmen side was headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, and the Kazakh side - by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu.  

During the meeting, the heads of foreign ministries noted with satisfaction the fruitful nature of the Turkmen-Kazakh dialogue, built on the principles of mutually beneficial partnership.

Within the framework of the consultations, a constructive exchange of views took place on the bilateral agenda, in particular, the parties analyzed and assessed the current state of political, diplomatic, trade, economic and cultural-humanitarian cooperation, reviewed the implementation of previously reached agreements, and discussed joint actions for the future.

Focusing on the key role of contacts at the highest level, the parties agreed that these meetings are the main factor in strengthening bilateral cooperation.  

During the negotiations, the parties discussed joint actions in the current year - the International Year of Peace and Trust.

In this context, the high level and positive experience of interaction between the two countries within international organizations, in particular the UN, OIC, ECO, and also in the "CA+" formats, were emphasized. The diplomats expressed the mutual readiness of the parties to continue building up multilateral relations.

The ministers noted their commitment to intensifying inter-parliamentary ties, which contribute to the development of multifaceted dialogue. They also agreed to increase the pace and dynamics of interaction between the foreign ministries of the two countries.

Along with this, a set of issues related to the development of cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, where there is a solid potential for joint work, was considered. The importance of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Kazakh Commission on economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation was noted. The ministers discussed issues of promoting partnership in such priority areas of the economy as the fuel and energy, transport and communication, trade and industrial sectors.  

The parties spoke in favor of deepening cultural and scientific-educational contacts and developing cooperation in the field of healthcare, sports and other spheres.

At the end of the consultations, the diplomats expressed their firm belief that relations based on centuries-old ties of friendship and good neighborliness will continue to develop successfully for the benefit of the two fraternal peoples.
