As part of his working visit to Lithuania, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan in Minsk Nazarguly Shagulyev visited the Grudoteka enterprise, which specializes in trade and logistics through seaports to the CIS countries, Europe and Asia, and held talks with its management. This reported on the website of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Belarus.
At the meeting, key aspects of port cooperation were discussed, with an emphasis on increasing the efficiency of cargo transportation and developing maritime logistics infrastructure as important factors in strengthening trade relations between Turkmenistan and Lithuania.
The Turkmen diplomat also met with the Director General of the Klaipeda State Seaport Algis Latakas, who familiarized the Turkmen diplomat in detail with the port's activities. He noted that the Klaipeda port is one of the leading ice-free ports on the eastern coast of the Baltic Sea, the largest transport hub in Lithuania, providing a connection of sea and land routes between the East and the West. Latakas reported that the port has 33 modern terminals, which allows for the efficient handling of cargo flows of various purposes. The impressive technical characteristics of the port were announced: a total area of 415 hectares, a water area of 623 hectares, a water depth of up to 14 meters, which makes it possible to receive large-tonnage vessels. At the end of the meeting, the ambassador expressed confidence in the presence of significant prospects for deepening economic partnership and further development of mutually beneficial cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Lithuania in the transport sector.
