On January 19, 2023, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnihanov and more than 200 representatives, led by the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation  Mikhail Mishustin visited Ashgabat.

Within the framework of the visit, was held a  forum of Turkmen-Russian businessmen at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan on January 19-20. This business forum was attended by representatives of various industries, and discussions were held on issues related to the development and expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation.

During the business forum, a round table was held on cooperation in the field of transport, in which the issues of establishing cooperation in the maritime transport sector were performed, as well as the transit possibilities of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport and the role of the port in the "North-South" International transport corridor.

Also, bilateral meetings were held with businessmen of the Russian side, and the issues of establishing and developing mutually beneficial cooperation in the maritime transport sector were discussed during the business forum.
