President of Turkmenistan Receives Head of Malaysian Company PETRONAS

On May 14, the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, held a meeting with the head of the Malaysian oil and gas company Petronas, Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik. The parties discussed further prospects for cooperation, reports TDH.

During the negotiations, it was noted that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to strengthening bilateral relations with Malaysia in the economic, trade, energy, transport, and cultural-educational spheres.  

The key direction of Turkmen-Malaysian interaction remains trade and economic cooperation. The role of Petronas in developing partnerships between the two countries was particularly emphasized.  

The interlocutors identified the fuel and energy sector as the most promising area of bilateral cooperation. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the Malaysian company has been actively participating in hydrocarbon resource extraction projects in Turkmenistan for nearly 30 years and is training highly qualified specialists for the country's oil and gas industry.  

The head of state confirmed Turkmenistan's readiness to consider specific proposals for expanding cooperation in new directions. In turn, the head of Petronas expressed gratitude for the trust placed in the company and reaffirmed its commitment to the obligations undertaken.
