Rovshan Rustamov, Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, met with Bilal Azhar Kayani, Pakistan's Minister of State for Railways. Their discussion focused on creating new logistics routes through Afghanistan and Turkmenistan, according to the official website of "Business Turkmenistan" (BT).
The main topic of negotiations was the strategically important regional transport corridor linking Pakistan – Afghanistan – Turkmenistan – Azerbaijan. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the current level of cooperation and discussed opportunities to increase cargo volumes.
This route is of great importance for Turkmenistan, as it helps develop its transit potential and strengthens its status as a key logistics hub in the region. Azerbaijan views this corridor as a strategic initiative aimed at expanding transport connectivity between South and Central Asia, as well as the Caspian region, through container shipments.
The Pakistan – Afghanistan – Turkmenistan – Azerbaijan corridor is part of broader efforts to develop regional connectivity between South and Central Asia.
