Turkmenistan Announces Calendar of Cultural and Sports Events for June

Turkmenistan has planned a series of festive events in June covering cultural, scientific, and sports spheres, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Bahargul Seyidova said during a government meeting on Friday, according to official Turkmen media.

According to the vice premier’s report, celebrations, concerts, and sports competitions will be held across the country in honor of International Children’s Day, World Bicycle Day, World Environment Day, as well as Science Day, Culture and Arts Workers Day, and Magtymguly Pyragy Poetry Day.

In the Dashoguz, Lebap, and Mary velayats, the final rounds of the music competition “Çalsana, bagşy!” for dutar players and bagshy will take place. One of the key events in June will be the international dance and folklore festival “Avaza – Land of Friendship,” held from June 2 to 7 in the Avaza National Tourist Zone.

During the same period, celebrations will mark the closing of Turkmenistan’s Year of Culture in China, as well as a Culture Week in the Ahal Province from June 22 to 27. On June 27, a wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the monument of the great thinker Magtymguly Pyragy in the cultural and park complex dedicated to Poetry Day.

Concert performances and festive events are planned to commemorate the second anniversary of the founding of the city of Arkadag on June 29.

Deputy Prime Minister Bahar Orazdurdiyeva also reported on preparations for events dedicated to World Bicycle Day. The main event, a mass bike ride in Ashgabat, will take place on June 3. Similar events will be held from May 30 to June 3 in the city of Arkadag and other provinces. The program includes sports competitions, conferences, and educational campaigns.

Following the meeting, the head of state ordered that all events be organized to a high standard and emphasized the importance of promoting a healthy lifestyle and cultural heritage.
