On 27 May 2025, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Japan A.Bayramov had a meeting in Tokyo with President of Tsukuba University of Japan Kyosuke Nagata and Chairman of the Japan-Turkmen Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation Hiroyuki Tsubai.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the issues of further strengthening cooperation in the cultural, educational, trade and economic fields between Turkmenistan and Japan, including within the framework of the upcoming celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan in December 2025.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Ambassador expressed his appreciation to the Japanese side for awarding the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov the high title of “Honorary Doctor of Tsukuba University” during the visit of the head of the Turkmen state to Japan on 13-15 April,  2025.

The parties agreed to continue work within the framework of implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on joint scientific research in the field of hydrogen energy between the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the University of Tsukuba signed on 7th of April 2025 in the online format.
