On May 28, 2025, a working meeting via video link took place between the Director General of the Agency of Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation. This is reported by the official website of News Central Asia.
During the talks, the parties discussed key areas of transport cooperation between the two countries.
One of the central topics of the meeting was the development of international road transport.
The parties examined prospects for increasing the volume of cargo transportation by Russian transport companies, as well as issues of synchronizing the development of infrastructure for the road route of the North-South International Transport Corridor (ITC).
Another important point of discussion was the creation of a unified railway operator for the North-South ITC. This initiative received support from partners in Kazakhstan and Iran.
During the negotiations, Russian representatives invited the Turkmen side to join the project.
The working meeting demonstrated the commitment of Russia and Turkmenistan to strengthening transport ties and developing international logistics projects.
