On May 3-4, 2023 was held The International Conference and Exhibition "International Transport and Transit Corridors: Interconnection and Development - 2023" in Ashgabat. The key areas of the forum were international transport and transit corridors, multimodality and its role in facilitating transport and logistics processes, the role of the international transport corridor "North-South" as the main transport and transit artery in developing the transport potential of the participating countries, cooperation with international organizations in creating favorable conditions for the transport system to achieve sustainable development.
During the two-day forum meetings were held with international partners, such as: "Baku International Sea Trade Port", "APM Terminals" (Georgia), "MAERSK", "MSC Georgia", "India Ports Global Limited", JSC "Uzbekugol", "John Gold". During the meetings, issues in the field of international transport and identification of prospective aspects for the establishment of long-term mutually beneficial cooperation were discussed.
Also during the forum important documents were signed with foreign partners. Namely:
1. Memorandum of Understanding between the International Sea Port of Turkmenbashi and the Turkish company "Albayrak Group";
2. Memorandum of Understanding between Turkmenbashi International Seaport and the Indian company "Anipra Impex Ltd";
3. Service Agreement between OJSC «Shipbuilding and repairing yard «Balkan» with «Bureau Veritas Marine Kazakhstan» LLP;
4. Amendment №1 to the Agreement on delegation of authority for services of ship survey and execution of documents in accordance with the requirements of international treaties relating to merchant shipping between the State Maritime and River Transport Service of Turkmenistan and the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping;
Also, on May 5th the forum participants visited "Balkan" shipyard and the International Sea Port of Turkmenbashi, where they got acquainted with the production area of the plant and with the capabilities, services, equipment and technicians at the terminals (passenger and ferry, container, general cargo, bulk cargo and polypropylene terminal) of the sea port.
