During the meeting, the Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan conveyed to the Chairperson of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Ivanovna Matvienko warm words of greeting and good wishes from the Esteemed President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Hero-Arkadag.

D. Gulmanova expressed confidence that the meetings and negotiations during the visit will contribute to the further strengthening of bilateral inter-parliamentary relations. A high assessment was given to the inter-parliamentary relations between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation and as well as readiness for their further development in all areas.

During the meeting, issues related to the development of inter-parliamentary relations established between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation were discussed. In particular, the Turkmen side's participation as a guest of the Parliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States in events held within the framework of this organization was noted as an example of continuing traditional principles.

The sides noted the significant role of cooperation between the two states in the international legal sphere for the further development of large-scale, equal, and mutually beneficial relations between the two countries, which will contribute to strengthening friendly relations between peoples and supporting interstate partnerships through parliamentary diplomacy.

During the negotiations, the importance of improving the activities of the inter-parliamentary friendship group was noted, which promotes the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, the intensification of relations between relevant committees, young and female parliamentarians, and the holding of meetings and conferences at the parliamentary level.

At the conclusion of the meeting, a signing ceremony was held for a Cooperation Agreement between the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Mejlis of Turkmenistan. This agreement aims to give new impetus to cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries.
