Meeting Held in Awaza Between the Head of Turkmenistan’s State Service for Maritime and River Transport and the Ambassador of India to Turkmenistan

On 3 November 2025, a meeting was held in the Awaza National Tourism Zone between the Head of Turkmenistan’s State Service for Maritime and River Transport and the Ambassador of India to Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, opportunities for cooperation in the maritime transport sector were discussed, including shipbuilding, enhancement of professional skills, and increasing cargo volumes within the North–South transport corridor.

The Turkmen side proposed the initiative of jointly building ships at the Balkan Shipbuilding and Repairing Yard and invited Indian companies to visit Turkmenistan to explore potential cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, the Head of the State Service invited the Ambassador to familiarize himself with the facilities of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport and the shipbuilding plant.

This meeting aims to open new avenues for Turkmenistan–India cooperation in maritime transport, facilitate exchange of experience, and strengthen bilateral relations.
