On March 3, 2026, a meeting was held in the conference hall of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport between representatives of the State Service of Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan and Narine Sahakyan, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities for cooperation in modernizing the seaport as a key hub of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor, simplifying trade operations, and implementing modern digital systems. In accordance with the Conceptual Note presented by the UNDP, particular attention was paid to upgrading the existing Terminal Operating System (TOS) and implementing the "Maritime Single Window" (MSW) system.
Furthermore, the importance of the port's existing ISO-14001 and "EcoPort" certifications was highlighted, and new proposals were made to further enhance international environmental standards. The representatives of the State Service stated that these initiatives and projects would be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan for consideration.
Following the negotiations, the parties agreed to bring mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of digitalization and ecology to a new level.
