The Triumph of National Statehood and Unity: Day of Constitution and State Flag Celebrated in Turkmenistan

On May 18, 2026, nationwide celebrations were held across Turkmenistan to mark the Day of the Constitution and the State Flag, sacred dates that have left an indelible mark on the politico-legal and spiritual life of the nation. On the occasion of this double holiday, which carries a profound significance as the country steps into a new era of development, large-scale cultural and public events, scientific-practical conferences, and festive concerts were organized in the capital Ashgabat, the city of Arkadag, and all provinces. According to official state media, as part of the celebrations, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov attended a flower-laying ceremony at the Constitution Monument and extended his heartfelt congratulations to the resilient Turkmen people.

In his official address, the Head of State emphasized that the Constitution and the State Flag serve as the everlasting pillars of our independent, neutral nation, and the eternal symbols of the solidarity and unshakeable unity of our people. Highlighting the humanistic and democratic principles of the Basic Law, which recognizes the human being as the supreme value of society and the state, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stated that our green flag stands for the ideals of peace and friendship. As noted in the message, the world-renowned carpet guls (patterns) depicted on our banner, the olive branches symbolizing a peaceful life, as well as the five stars and the crescent moon, embody our national pride, reflecting our historical roots, the present day, and our great confidence in the future. The high-level organizational execution of the celebrations across all regions of the country once again demonstrated to the world the absolute solidarity of Turkmen society and its unwavering commitment to the principles of national statehood.
