The capabilities of the «Balkan» shipbuilding and repairing yard attracted attention at the transport forum in Astana

The capabilities of the Turkmen shipyard «Balkan», which has begun construction of the first ships, aroused particular interest among the participants of the VI international transport and logistics business forum "New Silk Way", which takes place on October 4, in the capital of Kazakhstan - Astana, as “Orient” press service reports

The attention of the delegates of the representative forum to the shipbuilding projects that have begun to be implemented in Turkmenistan was drawn in his speech by Batyr Annaev, Deputy of General Director of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of the country.

He informed that the first cargo ship is planned to be launched in a year and a half, and then further ships will be build in every two months. The vessels are designed according to the current water level of the Caspian Sea, with a low draft but a large carrying capacity of 6,100 tons.

A representative of the transport and communications agency of Turkmenistan announced the readiness of Turkmen shipbuilders to accept orders for the construction of new ships. The proposal found a response and discussion.

One of these bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the forum took place with the delegation of the «Казмортрансфлот» company. The national maritime carrier of Kazakhstan became interested in the possibility of repairing its ships at the «Balkan» shipbuilding and repairing yard. In this context, some details and issues of organizing relevant negotiations were discussed with the Turkmen side.
