Turkmenistan can be an important transportation hub of the future on the East-West and North-South routes

For the international transport corridor "North-South", there is being created a digital registry of transport and logistics centers, which is planned to include information about the infrastructure of the international seaport of Turkmenbashi.

This is stated in the materials of the second session of the Transport Business Dialogue of the CIS held at the end of January. The infrastructure registry will be publicly available on the website of the Coordinating Transport Meeting of the CIS Member States. The information contained in the registry will allow for more efficient formation of logistics routes and supply chains along the "North-South" corridor, in which Turkmenistan plays an increasingly important role.

Of the three main routes identified in the development strategy of the international transport corridor, two pass through Turkmenistan. These are the Trans-Caspian route - through the Caspian Sea by sea and river transport from the ports of Astrakhan, Aliya and Makhachkala along the Volga River to Turkmen and Iranian ports, and the Eastern route - through Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan by road and rail transport.

After a recent visit to the international seaport of Turkmenbashi by representatives of the company "RZD Logistics", its CEO Dmitry Murev highly praised the port infrastructure of Turkmenistan. He stated that the international seaport of Turkmenbashi made a very favorable impression, and the company, led by him, will use its capabilities in the development of new logistics solutions. According to the Russian specialist, the transport infrastructure of Turkmenistan is in line with the growing cargo flows and the freight yards and complexes of the Etrek station are ready for handling goods from broad gauge to the railway tracks of Iran. Noting the synchronization of all modes of transport, Dmitry Murev expressed the opinion that Turkmenistan can become an important transport hub of the future on the "East-West" and "North-South" routes and in reverse directions.
