On February 21, 2024, during the 86th session of the Inland Transport Committee of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, which takes place in Geneva, the Chairman of the Turkmendenizderyayollary agency spoke at a discussion on the topic “Roadmap for the digitalization of multimodal exchange of data and documents along the trans-Caspian transport corridor with using UN legal instruments and standards.”
The Chairman noted in his speech the key advantages of digital transformation in the maritime transport industry and its significance for the development of the maritime sector, as well as the implementation of the “Concept for the development of the digital economy in Turkmenistan for 2019–2025” and the “State program for the development of the digital economy in Turkmenistan for 2021– 2025.”
Thus, using the example of the Turmenbashi International Seaport, the chairman noted the implemented TOS (Terminal Operation System) electronic data exchange system. In 2018, an Agreement on automated data exchange was signed between the Turkmenbashi International Seaport and the Baku Port. Currently, work is underway to interface systems between ports. Also, to create the most profitable services and improve services, a system of electronic receipt of applications from clients of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport was introduced. Work has been established on the online sale of passenger tickets for the services of the national merchant fleet. An electronic document flow has been established that connects and coordinates state-owned maritime transport enterprises in our country.
As part of ongoing strategic activities, it is planned to create a digital platform in the near future to facilitate the exchange of information between the Caspian and Black Sea ports, and in the future with major ports in Europe.
