Construction of two bulk cargo ships is planned to begin in Turkmenistan in July

JSC “Shipbuilding and repairing yard “Balkan” and “Koryo Shipbuilding Industry Technology Co. Ltd.” company of the Republic of Korea plans to begin construction of two bulk carriers in July this year.

As official Turkmen media reported on Friday, the companies signed relevant contracts for the design and joint construction of two dry cargo ships with a carrying capacity of 6,100 tons. Currently, preparations are underway to begin construction of new vessels.

According to the report, more than 300 workers will work on the construction of the ships.

Recently, Korean specialists have started training two-month specialized courses on construction planning, technology implementation, ship parts development, welding, electrical installation and quality control.

On January 29, 2024, the managers of the Open Joint Stock Company “Shipbuilding and repairing yard “Balkan” and “Koryo Shipbuilding Industry Technology Co. Ltd.”  held a meeting with representatives of the company “Koryo Shipbuilding Industry Technology Co.” Ltd.”
