On October 22-23, the 9th meeting of the High-Level Working Group on Caspian Sea issues was held in Astana. The meeting, which took place at the level of deputy foreign ministers and authorized representatives of the Caspian states, was attended by delegations from Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Turkmenistan. During the negotiations, the parties noted the opportunities for cooperation in the Caspian Sea. They also discussed the methodology for determining the straight baselines for the Caspian Sea.

During the meeting, information was presented on the preparations for the next meeting of foreign ministers, which will be held in Turkmenistan.

Kazakhstan was thanked for the high level of organization of the event and for its hospitality. The 10th meeting of the High-Level Working Group on Caspian Sea issues will be held in Turkmenistan.
