Turkmenistan-Malaysia: signed memorandum on cooperation in the humanitarian and industrial spheres

Turkmenistan and Malaysia strengthened bilateral relations by signing two memorandums of understanding: in the field of culture, art and heritage, as well as in the development of the rubber industry and economic cooperation. The signing ceremony took place within the framework of the official visit of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimukhamedov to Malaysia. The President of Turkmenistan met with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at Perdana Putra, where the parties held talks on trade, investment, cooperation in the energy sector, higher education, tourism and transport. The Turkmen delegation, consisting of six deputy chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers and five ministers, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, actively participated in the discussions.

After the negotiations, the Prime Minister of Malaysia organized an official dinner at the Seri Perdana residence in honor of the President of Turkmenistan. The event was attended by senior government officials including Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusuf, Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hassan and Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Control Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.

The parties agreed to expand cooperation in the fields of transport, education, culture, tourism and sports. Particular attention was paid to exchange programs between universities and scientific institutions. The leaders highly appreciated the prospects for partnership secured by the signed agreements.
