The President of Turkmenistan discussed bilateral cooperation with the Governor of St.Petersburg

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived in St. Petersburg to participate in the informal summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).  "Vatan" news program reports about it.

At the Pulkovo airport, the Turkmen leader was met by the governor of the city, Alexander Beglov, during a brief conversation, the parties discussed issues of economic and cultural cooperation between Turkmenistan and St. Petersburg.

In recent years, cooperation between Turkmenistan and St. Petersburg has strengthened in various spheres. Specialists from St. Petersburg actively participate in the construction of road structures in the south of Ashgabat, implementing a total of 25 projects, including crossings, bridges, and ring roads.

Cooperation also includes the energy sector. The State Electric Power Corporation "Turkmenenergo" successfully cooperates with the Russian company "Power Machines".

Cultural and educational ties also continue to develop. In the last academic year, about two thousand students from Turkmenistan entered St. Petersburg universities. This indicates a positive interest in Russian education.

The informal summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) began on December 25, 2024 in St. Petersburg. The event is attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko, Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyz President Sadir Apaparov, Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon, Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
