On February 4, 2025, a video conference took place between representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the Customs Committee under the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This is reported by the official website of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan.
The agenda included increasing the capacity of the Farap Avtoyollary-Alat border crossing points and discussing proposals from both sides on this issue.
As noted, after the recent reconstruction of the Farap Avtoyollary checkpoint, there has been an increase in the number of vehicles moving between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan. However, the parties discussed promising joint tasks to further increase the capacity of the posts.
It was decided to appoint contact persons from both sides to quickly resolve issues arising in the region of activity of the Farap Avtoyollary-Alat checkpoints, hold joint mutual meetings of representatives of the two customs services, and also conduct awareness-raising measures for participants in foreign economic activity of Uzbekistan on the mechanism of Preliminary Declaration, launched in Turkmenistan on June 1, 2024.
