On February 7, 2025, during an expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that, as is known, at the beginning of last year a competition was announced among etraps and cities with the rights of an etrap in the velayats to determine the best of them in all indicators. This is reported by the official website of the news portal of Turkmenistan.

Recently, a special Commission under the leadership of Trade Unions summed up the results of this review. In this regard, the head of state gave the floor to the chairman of the National Trade Union Center O. Berdiliyeva for a corresponding report.

As noted, under the farsighted leadership of the President of Turkmenistan, the noble initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero-Arkadag, to develop the velayats of the country and the city of Ashgabat on a competitive basis, continues successfully.

According to the relevant Decree of the head of state, this Commission has done the proper work in the prescribed manner. Based on its results, the best etrap of the country in 2024, held under the motto "The Treasury of Wisdom of Makhtumkuli Fragi", was chosen.

According to the results of the competition, its winner was determined to be the Sakarchaginsky etrap of the Mary velayat, which achieved the best results in social, economic and cultural indicators.

After listening to the information, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed the Decrees on declaring the Sakarchaginsky etrap of the Mary velayat the winner of the competition held in 2024 and awarding the khyakimlik of this etrap with a cash prize of 1 million US dollars, as well as on announcing a similar competition in 2025.
